From the perspective possibilities of "transdisciplinarity" in research and university education, we find the overreaching complexity of transdisciplinarity has resulted in "new cultures of knowledge" resulting from close collaboration between researchers belonging to different disciplines and different domains of research, also reconceptualizations within the humanities disciplines themselves. The disciplinary segmentation of knowledge takes us away from reaping the benefits of a more holistic perception of phenomena in all areas of science. Humanities not only provide insights into what it means to be human but also encourage us to think creatively about ourselves as human beings and ask questions about the world around us. Thus, an indepth understanding of "science" and "culture" are not simply areas of overlap, especially not areas of tension, but should be seen as areas of mutual complementarity.
