地方与认知:《远山淡影》与《家园》之比较

Place and Perception:A Comparative Analysis of A Pale View of Hills and Homebase

日裔作家石黑一雄和华裔作家徐忠雄同属当代英美文坛炙手可热的作家。二人的扛鼎之作《远山淡影》和《家园》是属于相近时代、不同地区、不同民族的两部文学作品。一方面,两部作品将地方置于突出位置,在亚裔人群的地方丧失、地方寻觅以及回忆式叙述地方上表现出了惊人的相似,另一方面他们在地方情感的选择、族裔身份的定位和族群世界观选择方面又迥然不同,体现了日裔人群与华裔人群不同的地方体验对各自认知的不同影响与作用。

Japanese British writer Kazuo Ishiguro and Chinese American writer Shawn Wong are both held in high esteem in the contemporary British and American literature. As the classic works of the two, A Pale View of Hills and Homebase, featuring similar periods, different regions and different ethnic groups, on the one hand, give the same priority to ＂place＂, and share much similarity in Asian ethnic groups＇ experience in place-deprivation, place-seeking and memory narration on place, but on the other hand are sheerly divergent in terms of their place emotion, identity location and world outlooks, which enunciates the fact that Japanese and Chinese immigrants＇ different experiences in places do exert different influence on their perception.
