Tourism was a common phenomenon in Chinese ancient times. During the Qin Dynasty and the Han Dynasty tourism was quite prevalent and the composition of the majority of tourists had the features of the time. The principal part of tourists was made up of the supreme ruler, the nobility, the rich, the intellectual, the envoy and the laborer. Among them the supreme ruler, the nobility and the rich held the largest share.
