Shen Zhusan and Modern Wuhan

沈祝三是中国近现代史上富有传奇色彩的建筑商人。他追求极致,主持建设了汉口太古洋行仓库、汇丰银行、武汉大学建筑群等多项江城著名建筑,为后人留下了丰厚的建筑文化遗产;他不惜"毁家兴学",将一生所得均投入到了武汉大学的建设之中,在近代中国建筑史上留下了一段值得信誉的篇章,为积贫积弱的旧中国教育事业的发展做出了贡献。

Shen Zhusan was a legendary architectural trader in Chinese modern history.He pursued the ultimate,and presided over the construction of many famous buildings in Wuhan such as Hankou Swire Warehouse,HSBC and Wuhan University,leaving a rich architectural and cultural heritage for future generations;he＂established schools at the cost of his own family＂,and devoted all his earnings to the construction of Wuhan University,leaving a commendable chapter in the history of modern Chinese architecture,contributing to the development of the old Chinese education which was poor and weak.
