《墙上的斑点》以伍尔夫偶然间发现的墙上的一枚斑点作为意识活动萌发的起点,以飞扬跳脱的思绪引领读者在自主意识凝化成的意象旷野中自由漫游,充分体现了作家意识在创作活动中选择的自主性和自由性。这种创作观念与存在主义的自由选择的核心思想不谋而合。伍尔夫试图借《墙上的斑点》展示一个完全由意识蔓延而建构、展开的世界,她将构建、表达意识世界作为创作取向,着重展现个体的自为的意识世界的自由与非个人的自在的现实世界的荒谬性,传达自己对生而为人的痛苦的哲理性思考,即通过感受世界错综交织的偶然性与荒诞性披露人生苦闷,极力摆脱现实存在的拘囿,实现心灵与意志自由。

In The Mark on the Wall,a spot on the wall that by Woolf found as a start point of the germination of her conscious activity. It fully embodies the writer＇s consciousness of choosing autonomy and freedom in the creative activity and coincides with the core ideas of the free choice of Existentialism. Woolf tried to show a world that was constructed and unfolded completely by the spread of consciousness,building and expressing the world of consciousness is her creative orientation. She emphasized the freedom of the individualized,for-self world of consciousness and the absurdity of the impersonalized,in-self real world.
