摘要
上海博物馆所谓"大司徒长卩乘"玺中的"卩乘"当释为"勹■",读为"符契"。"符契"与燕玺中常见的"符瑞"意义相当,皆为古玺自名。
The wordsjiecheng in the ＂Da situzhang jie cheng＂ seal should be read as bannie and in- terpreted to mean ＂talisman seal.＂ It has a similar meaning to the phraseJiwui （＂auspicious talisman＂） seen in Yan state seals. They are both ancient names used to refer to seals.
