Communication between Ling Shuhua and Tagore in Poetry and Painting

1924年泰戈尔来华访问,"北京画会"中凌叔华以女性画家的身份初识泰戈尔。作为中印两国热爱绘画艺术的作家,恰逢文坛的国际交流盛会,尽管他们所擅长的文学艺术领域略有不同,但通过切磋鼓舞,将绘画与文学相融合,创作出中印文坛与画界的诸多优秀作品。文学与绘画领域的交流,使凌叔华逐渐成长为具有独特写作风格的中国现代女性作家。她积极进行英文小说创作实践,举办国际画展,在世界文坛和绘画界获得了国际声誉,成为走向世界传递中国文化的桥梁。

At the time of Rabindranath Tagore’s visit to China in 1924,Ling Shuhua was introduced to him as a Chinese woman painter.Sharing the same interest in literature and art,they communicated about poetry and painting.Ling Shuhua was deeply encouraged by the well-known poet and she kept in touch with Tagore since the visit.She published her English autobiography and gained international fame through the exhibitions of her Chinese styled painting overseas.The communication with Tagore enlarged her perspective about world literature and the insistence of art.Tagore and Ling have formed a cultural bridge between the east and west by their work and international communication they devoted their life with.
