From Huangzhou to Australia: Swimming in an Ocean of Literature: an Interview with Ouyang Yu

欧阳昱是旅澳学者、作家、翻译家,现为上海对外经贸大学"思源"学者兼讲座教授。欧阳昱在与江少川的对谈中,回顾了个人的成长及创作历程,表达了作家的文学观与创作观,对小说、诗歌与双语写作都发表了独到新颖的见解,并就自己的几部中英文长篇与诗集,谈到如何突破文体束缚、甚至颠覆传统写法,而力图创新的思考与探讨。

Ouyang Yu, an Australian scholar, writer and translator, is now a Siyuan scholar and professor at Shanghai University of International Business and Economy. In this interview with him by Jiang Shaochuan, he looks back at his growing up and creative process, talks about his views on literature and literary creation, expressing unique viewpoints on fiction, poetry and bilingual writing. And, in relation to his novels in English and Chinese as well as collections of poetry, he also talks about how to break from the boundary of genres by subverting the traditional ways of writing in an effort to find new ways of thinking and exploring.
