马来西亚有近七百万的华人,是中国以外保留中华传统文化较为完整的国家。华人精英在教育领域及传承中华文化方面的成就卓著。马来西亚华人常常自许马来西亚拥有从小学到大专的完整的华文教育体系,但是,究竟马来西亚华人在日常生活中还保留有多少中华文化,这是一个笼统又难以回答的问题。不过,可通过华文小学的课程内容窥探一二,因为马来西亚有超过九成的华人在华文小学接受教育。因此,华文小学的华文科在很大程度上影响了马来西亚华人对中华传统文化的传承,并形成了颇具特色的马来西亚华人文化。

There about 7 million Chinese in Malaysia.Malaysia is the country where the Chinese culture is most widely practiced outside of China(including Hong Kong,Taiwan and Macao).The Malaysian Chinese elites’achievement in education and in preserving culture is considered to be on par with the Chinese nationals.The Malaysian Chinese take pride that they have developed a complete Chinese education system from the primary to the tertiary levels.However,how much Chinese culture has been preserved in the Malaysian Chinese folks’dairy lives?This is a general and difficult question,but we can have a rough idea through an examination of the content of the Chinese language education in the Chinese Primary Schools since more than 90% of the Malaysian Chinese receive a Chinese primary education.The Chinese language education in the Chinese Primary Schools plays a significant role in preserving the traditional Chinese culture in Malaysia and shaping the Malaysian Chinese culture.
