According to the previous literature, most scholars in the Japanese literature research community tend to interpret Murakami Haruki's short story The Last Lawn of The Afternoon from the starting point of plot analysis. However, Murakami Haruki's own "interpretation" to the novel shows that the "work"of mowing the lawn is more important than the "plot". Analyzing this novel from the "work" of mowing the lawn can not only become a new way of interpretation, but also lead to a conclusion different from the previous study, that is, "work" of mowing the lawn is actually the reflection of the nature of people's survival.
