Langston Hughes is an outstanding modern Afro American poet and leading figure of Harlem Renaissance. “The Weary Blues” is his representative poem which integrates with the blues to unfold the African American modern consciousness in the course of modernization and urbanization in the early 20th century of America. With the help of the inter art poetics, this paper focuses on the transformation and fusion of poetry and music by which the poem absorbs the art and the spirit of African American blues. As a proper representation of African American modernity and urban writing, this blues poem voices the weariness of African Americans while transcending that weariness as well.
