In the epic section of the history of Southern ethnic literature,the Yi epics form a leadingcomponent capable of representing its level. This argument is well grounded on the following three bases：Meige and Chamu are typical genesis of the southern peoples living in the mountains;Zhigeahlu is a fineexample of the internal vitality of epics;and A History of Yelang and King Esuo Zhelu are superb works ofartistic epical expression.
