The article introduced Gu＇s surgical academic thoughts in surgery of traditional Chinese medicine.These academic thoughts were as followed：firstly,valued yin and yang,treasured elimination method; emphasized systemic therapy for surgical diseases,paid attention to the spleen and stomach; combined disease,syndrome,constitution and symptom,determined the treatment plan according to the different stages; combined internal and external treatment,made full use of external treatment; analyzed pathogenesis,applied the treatment method of promoting blood circulation for removing blood stasis and protecting yin fluid; treated sore and ulcer,reversed the tendency of disease,and valued warm disease and protection field theory.These thoughts would promote the academic development of surgery of traditional Chinese medicine and improve the clinical efficacy
