《拓荒曲》选材独到,始终洋溢着正能量。其主要特色是真实、扎实、平实。在叙事和人物描写方面,小说不回避矛盾,矛盾的化解真实可信;人物塑造饱满鲜明;场面描写多有声色。小说的不足主要表现在语言方面。语言平实显豁,间或也不无幽默;但叙写节奏还嫌拖沓松散,明快不够,对字词的锤炼尚存在不足。

The novel ＂ Ode to Land Reclamation＂ has the characteristics of authenticity, solidness and simplicity. The novel does not avoid contradiction in narration and character description and the resolution of the contradiction is credible; the character portrait is fully distinct; the scene description is colorful. Unfortunately, the shortcoming of the novel is at language -- the narrative rhythm is dilatory and the word choice is not so good.
