Debate course at high school plays a positive role in expanding students＇ knowledge, fostering innovative abilities and improving thinking ability, communication ability and social skills. It is undoubtedly the way to march toward a quality high school education set to embrace the future. Nanjing Foreign Language School developed various speech and debate courses, covering speech and debate at classroom, STEM＋ speech and debate, Model United Nations, debate courses drawn from Harvard, business competition, speech and debates organized by student unions. Moreover, it also designed different topics for speech or debate catering to students at different age groups. As a result, students＇ global competence was raised as their key competences got improved through these courses.
