As early as in the epigraphic works of the Song Dynasty, the "Five Auspicious Signs of Mianchi" and the Inscription of "Opening the Xiao Qin Path" of Li Xi of the Eastern Han Dynasty have been recorded. The images and inscription are carved in front of the cliff inscription of "Ode to Xixia (West Passage)". In Lishi (Interpreting Han Cleric Writings, by Hong Kuo, 1117-1184, of the Southern Song Dynasty), it was cataloged between the "Ode to Xixia (West Passage) [Opened by] Li Xi, the Governor of Wudu Commandery" and "Ode to Li Xi's Xili Bridge and Fuge Viaduct". In addition, in vol. eleven of Lixu (Supplement of Interpreting Han Cleric Writings) by the same author, the "Stele of the Tianjing Path [Opened by] Li Xi, the Governor of Wudu Commandery" was cataloged. As four stone inscriptions showing the same personal name "Li Xi", they consisted of an important special assemblage in the historical textual materials about the traffic history worth attention of researchers. The publicizing ofLi Xi's merit on traffic construction of"opening the Xiao Qin Path when he was in Mianchi in the past" in Wudu would be related to the special traffic and communication situations of Wudu. The period for Li Xi in charge of the civil and military affairs in Wudu might be the better time for the development of the local traffic construction of Wudu Commandery. The merit of Qiu Shen, who was the executive director of the traffic construction projects, was recorded and memorized because of these inscriptions.
