Review of the hundred-year research on the character Xiangling in A Dream of Red Mansions

自小说《红楼梦》诞生以来,关于十二钗副册之首香菱的研究便从未停止,主要围绕5个方面,即姓名研究、香菱之呆、香菱学诗、结局探佚、情解石榴裙,作了大量的研究。

Since the birth of the novel A Dream of Red Mansions, an endless discussion has continued about the top beauty, Xiangling, of the Supplementary Volume to Twelve Beauties of Jinling. Scholars have done a lot of research, focusing on five aspects, namely, the name of Xiangling, the foolishness of Xiangling, Xiangling＇s learning poems, exploration of the fate end of the character, and interpretation of affection for her pomegranate-red skirt.
