在十月革命过去百年之后,西方国家所主导的殖民体系早已瓦解,对于非西方世界的物质与科技优势也逐渐难以维持,此时回顾十月革命,对其历史意义的认知会变得更为清晰。列宁和布什尔维主义提出的关于民族自决与帝国主义的论述,将世界战争的根源直接指向西方所主导的帝国主义和殖民主义体系。19世纪末20世纪初,殖民主义发展到达顶峰的时刻,对西方主导的国际秩序和意识形态提出了全方位的挑战,有力地推动了国际体系的变革。在西方观念的建构过程中,种族主义构成了其意识形态的重要内核,那些在西方国家内部倡导多元化的人并不愿看到真正多元化的世界。西方世界实际上在以唯我论的视角观察世界,不愿接受非基督教和非白人国家的崛起,如何维持文明的共存将成为新时代国际体系所面临的重大挑战。

A century after the Bolshevik Revolution, the West-dominated colonial system has long collapsed. Their materialistic and technological advantages over non-western world become unsustainable. It is just the time that we look back into the Bolshevik Revolution and have a much clearer perception of its historical significance. According to arguments of Lenin and Bolshevism on national self-determination and imperialism, the world war was directly related with the West-dominated imperialism and colonial system. At the turn of the 20^(th) century, when colonialism reached its peak, it challenged the West-dominated international order and ideology in all directions, pushing forward changes in international system. When constructing Western ideas, racism constitutes an important core of its ideology. As a matter of fact, those who advocate pluralism in Western countries do not want to see a truly pluralistic world. The West actually observes the world from a self-centered perspective and is unwilling to accept the rise of non-Christian and non-white nations. How to maintain the coexistence of civilizations will be a major challenge for the international system in the new era.
