Construction of England's National Ideology in the 16th Century: Chronicles and History Plays

英格兰以其诸多内生性力量为动力,首先在欧洲建构了一种新的国族意识形态与地缘民族国家。在这些建构性的力量中,作为文化资本的英国编年史和历史剧扮演了极其重要的角色。本文试图在十六世纪英国编年史与莎士比亚英国历史剧之间的某种互文关系中,考察这两类文化产品生产与建构国族意识及民族国家实体的动力机制,以期发现其中文化与社会之间复杂的共谋与互动。

Motivated by many of its endogenous forces,England took the initiative in building a new national ideology and a geopolitical nation.Among those constructive forces,as a cultural capital,English chronicles and history plays played an extremely important role.This article attempts to examine the dynamic mechanism for the production and construction of national consciousness and national state entity by these two kinds of cultural products in some sort of interactive relationship between English Chronicles and Shakespeare’s history plays in the 16th century in order to find the complicated collusion and interaction between culture and society.
