A Study of Homophones of Guo'an Hakka

国安瑶族乡是贵港市两个少数民族乡之一,是一个少数民族聚居乡镇,全乡通用语言为白话、客家话等。经调查研究发现,国安客家话中有一个丰富而复杂的韵母体系,保持着中古汉语中存在的m、n、、p、t、k韵尾,且相当整齐,这也是客家话保存中古语音特点的一种表现。国安客家话有撮口呼韵母,与梅州客家话韵母无撮口呼特点相异,是语言接触影响的结果。

Guo＇an Yao Minority Town, a town mainly inhabited by minorities, is one of the two minority towns in Guigang city. Popular local dialects spoken in Guo＇an town are Baihua and Hakka. Studies show that Guo＇an Hakka has a rich and complex vowel system. Guo＇an Hakka holds some mediaeval Chinese＇s tail vowels in orders, likem.n,lJ,p.t,k, which is a sign showing that Guo＇an Hakka still keeps some of mediaeval Chinese＇s features. Besides, there are Cuokouhu vowels in Guo＇an Hakka. This makes Guo＇an Hakka different from of Meizhou Hakka, which has no Cuokouhu vowels. The difference is the result of dialects interference.
