摘要
莎士比亚自从一八五六入华,已经超过百年。台湾地区在中华文化的文化体系架构下,在接受、演出莎剧的历史,是传承着“中国莎剧”演出之影响。“中国莎剧”演出之影响则具现在台湾的教育体系下:一是以英文系所开设的“莎士比亚”文学课程;而莎士比亚在戏剧科系则为实践课程的“毕业公演”演出。本文拟以两位莎剧学者:台师大英文系梁实秋与文化大学戏剧系的王生善。本文拟以这个脉络论述莎剧演出在台湾地区戒严时期的兴衰,分析研究莎剧演出在台湾地区戒严时期的的面貌,进而阐述其所代表之意义。
The name of Shakespeare was already known in China by 1856, but it was not until 1902 that one of his plays, The Merchant of Venice, was performed by students in Shanghai. Since then Shakespeare' s works have been frequently translated, performed and studied in China. Taiwan, being part of china in its cultural heritage, inevitably received Shake- speare in the Chinese manner through production. This paper surveys the influence of China on the development of Shake- spearean production in Taiwan during the Martial Law Period ( 1949 - 1987). With two examples : One is Liang' s Shih Chiu in English Department, National Taiwan Normal University; the other is Wang Sun - shine in Drama Department, Culture University, they both represent the rise and fall of Shakespeare in English and Drama educationin Taiwanand their significance.
