英语世界近年来库切研究的规模和层次不断提升。随着库切书稿的对外开放及作家传记的出版,对其作者身份的讨论成了新的研究动向。大卫·阿特维尔的《用人生写作的J.M.库切——与时间面对面》采取文本发生学的视角,通过剖析作家的书稿资料,以分析作者身份的建构为主线,动态揭示了其经典文本的生产过程。作为库切研究专家,阿特维尔的新著在研究视角、论证过程、参考价值和可读性等方面都堪称该领域的典范之作。
English-speaking academia has witnessed an unprecedented growth in Coetzee studies from 2009 until now. The issue of the novelist＇s authorship, among others, becomes increasingly prominent because of the open access to Coetzee＇s papers and the publication of his biographies. David Attwell＇s J. M. Coetzee and the Life of Writing： Face to Face with Time is a milestone in this critical field in terms of its research methodology, argument, referentiality and readability. Revolving around the construction of Coetzee＇s authorship from the perspective of genetic criticism, the monograph insightfully explores how Coetzee＇s life influences his writing in a philosophical and ethical way.
