Serving the People: the Fundamental Purpose of Public Security Organs and Forces in the New Era

服务人民是公安机关和公安队伍的根本宗旨。这是由公安机关和公安队伍的性质以及中国共产党的本质决定的,在实践上符合党中央治国理政新思路,适应现代政府职能。当前,公安机关和公安队伍在践行服务人民的根本宗旨方面存在关系错位、行为越位、能力缺位等问题,应当努力树立服务人民的意识、提高服务人民的本领、拓宽服务人民的领域、完善服务人民的制度。

Serving the people is the fundamental purpose of public security organs and forces. It is determined by the nature of the public security organs and the essence of the Chinese Communist Party. It is in line with the Party Central Committee’s new ideas of governing the country in practice and is adapted to the functions of modern government. At present, there exist the problems of dislocation, offside behavior, lacking of capacity and so on in the public security organs and forces when they practice the basic purpose of serving the people. They should foster their awareness of serving the people, improve the ability to serve the people, broaden the scope of serving the people and improve the system of serving the people.
