Latrine Management and the Attempts to Improve Social Order in Tianjin after the Anti-Japanese War

粪厕问题是人们日常生活中的重要问题,因而成为近代城市环境卫生管理工作的重要着力点。战后天津市政府在厕所整顿和粪秽处理方面开展了一些工作,对改进社会秩序进行了尝试。文明和卫生理念有所进步的市民对战后粪厕管理起到了一定的推动作用。但由于种种原因,国民党战后粪厕管理工作并未取得预期成果,改进社会秩序的尝试也宣告失败。

The problem of latrine is an important issue which concerns people＇s daily life so that it became an important focus of modern urban environmental sanitation management work. After the Anti-Japanese War, the Tianjin municipal government launched a series of work in the toilet consolidation and faeces treatment and attempted to improve social order. The Civilized and hygienic citizens played an important role in promoting the latrine management after the Anti-Japanese war. However, the Kuomintang government＇s latrine management after the Anti-Japanese war didn＇t achieve the desired results due to various reasons, and the attempts to improve the social order have also failed.
