摘要
美国教育史学科的属性和地位一直是一个有争议的话题:有的学者倾向于认可其历史学分支的属性,有的学者则更加强调教育的属性。有的学者承担起公共知识分子角色,从教育史角度出发对教育政策议题以及一些公共话题发表意见,同时也有很多学者专注于纯人文的学术研究。尼尔森教授认为,美国教育史学科需要与更加广阔的历史学科结合起来,对更多的新问题开展深入研究。他还建议,中美教育史学界都应当加强国际交流与合作,以推动教育史学科的共同发展。
According to Professor Adam Nelson in an interview, the role of the discipline of history of education is always a controversial topic in the USA. Some scholars believe that it is a branch of history, while some others think it is more educational. Some historians of education take the role of public intellectuals and express their views on policy issues and public topics from the perspective of history of education. There are also many people concentrating on the pure research in humanities. Professor Nelson argued that American history of education should be combined with the broader scholarship of history and conduct in-depth research on more new issues. He also suggested that both American and Chinese history of education should strengthen international cooperation and exchange in order to promote the development of this field in two countries.
