A Study on the Duality of American Chinese Literature——Taking Fifth Chinese Daughter as an Example

美国华裔文学是美国文学的一个重要分支,它生活在美国的大环境下,却也在中国传统文化之中汲取营养。利用分析美国华裔文学文化双重性问题,特别是在特殊时代下的精神内涵取舍问题,可以对其群体意识加以差异化解读,产生合理的结论:美国华裔文学本身当然具有文化双重性特色,其中美国文化益彰、中国文化益弱,只沦为一些表面的符号象征,这是文学发展的必然规律,无须过多的指责。

American Chinese literature is an important branch of American literature. Living in the environment of the United States,it still absorbs some literary nutrition from Chinese traditional culture. By analyzing of the duality of American Chinese literature and culture,especially in the special age,it can distinguish the group consciousness and produce reasonable conclusions： American Chinese literature itself has the cultural duality characteristic because of the integration of American literature and Chinese literature. In American Chinese literature,American literature is salient while Chinese culture is unnoticeable,which can be reduced to some symbol of the surface symbol,and which is the inevitable result of the development of literature; therefore,it is no worth of being criticized.
