Objective To compare the PBL teaching and traditional teaching method in clinical probation teaching of neurology for international students, so as to provide scientifc basis for the improvement of teaching quality. Methods 90 international students from grade 2013 of medical college of Xi 'an jiaotong university were selected as the teaching subjects, were divided into two small classes, each class had 45 students, class one was using by traditional teaching method, class two was using by PBL teaching method. Finally, unifed examination and questionnaire were taken by students. Comparison between the two groups used independent samples t test and χ2 test, P 〈 0.05 stands for that the difference is statistically significant. Results PBL teaching group students' subjective evaluation in learning interest, expression ability, self-learning ability, understanding ability, knowledge system, problem-solving ability and clinical thinking ability were all better than those in traditional teaching group, and the diference was statistically signifcant (P 〈 0.05). The results of the PBL teaching group were better than those of the traditional teaching group, and the diference was statistically signifcant (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion PBL teaching in international student neurology clinical probation teaching can better cultivate students' autonomous learning ability than traditional teaching methods, improve students' ability to analyze and solve problems, and better integrate theory with practice and train clinical thinking.
