清军收复新疆时,吉江副都统吉尔洪额与帮办军务大臣金顺互控。左宗棠作为清军统帅,经过调阅案件、实际访查,推翻了吉尔洪额对金顺的指控,并从大局出发,亦对金顺指证吉尔洪额的罪行进行了详细分辨,从而稳定了军心,保证了西征的顺利进行。

When the troops of the Qing Dynasty recovered Xinjiang,Jier Honge,vice commanderin-chief of Ji An,and Jin Shun,deputy assistant minister of war,accused each other. As the command of the Qing troops,Zuo Zongtang,after careful reading of the case files and field investigation,reversed Jier Honge' s accusation against Jin Shun and carefully distinguished Jier Honge' s guilt that Jin Shun accusedfor,thus stabilized soldier' s morale and guaranteed the success of Qing troops' western expedition.
