John Locke is well known as the philosopher, politician and education theorist whose related ideas had a profound impact in the New World. Theories originated from Locke like natural rights, social contract, separation of powers, and religious tolerance were the theoretical base of the American revolution and its constitution; his theory of gentleman education and utilitarian education influenced the direction of the early development of American education. Therefore, Locke was praised as the bridge of the Ancient World to the New World.
