The Collision between Ice and Fire——on the Spiritual Extinction of Wu Xiyu

河南作家墨白历时十九年完成长篇小说《欲望》,在其黄卷《欲望与恐惧》中塑造了两个与男主人公吴西玉关系最为密切,但是性格极端对立的女性角色,一是其妻子牛文藻,一是其情人尹琳。文本以欲望为切入点,以吴西玉的精神困境为中心建构了底层知识分子在精神折磨和欲海挣扎的双重助力之下最终走向崩溃的图景,并通过对其精神痛苦的探索表现了墨白对一代知识分子精神世界的关注。

The Henan writer Mobai took nineteen years to complete the novel ＂desire＂, in the Yellow volume of ＂fear and desire＂ in the shape of two extreme female characters and most closely related with the hero Wu Xiyu, one is the wife of Niu Wenzao, the other is his lover Yin Lin. This paper takes desire as the starting point, with Wu Xiyu as the center of the spiritual dilemma of intellectuals in the construction of the underlying mental torture under the dual power struggle eventually to the collapse of the picture. It presents the performance of the white ink on a generation of intellectuals spiritual world attention through the exploration of the spiritual pain.
