安藤忠雄与贝聿铭都是普利兹克奖得主,都受到现代主意思潮的影响,都对混凝土与玻璃材料具有偏爱。但是两者的建筑表皮却呈现出全然不同的体验。一个出生和生活在日本,长年受到日本阴翳美学的影响,并对建筑作品的自然性保持追求。另一个出生在中国,生活在美国,不但受到中国传统"中庸"文化的影响,而且跻身于现代主义的大浪潮中,受到理性主义的影响。后师从格罗皮乌斯,在不断的学习和自我反思中,对建筑作品的历史性保持高度关注。这两种迥异的文化底蕴和生活经历,造就了不同的美学观念。从而使建筑表皮呈现出不同的感官体验:一个阴冷、暧昧,一个温暖、明确。

Both Ando Tadao and Ieoh Ming Pei are the winners of the Italian Academy of Sciences, all of which are influenced by modern ideas, and have a preference for concrete and glass materials. But both of them have a completely different experience.
