How to Understand Truth?

西方哲学中的truth乃是一个重要概念,有关它的探讨常常与being相关。该词的中译文很多,最常见的是"真理"和"真理性",即使在同一上下文中,同一译者对同一个truth也会采用这两种不同译法。这无疑是有问题的。应该认识到,truth乃是true的名词形式,它的本意来自it is true(是真的)。因此应该将它译为"真",而不是译为"真理",并且应该在西方哲学研究中将这样的理解和翻译贯彻始终。应该看到,这不是简单的翻译问题,而是如何理解西方哲学的问题。

Truth is an important concept in Western philosophy and often discussed with the concept of being. It was translated into Chinese in many ways, and its basic translation was zhenli, a term in the sense of true theory or correct theory. This paper is to show, with a paragraph of Hegel's work as an example, that truth(Wahrheit) is the noun of the word true(wahr) and it should be understood mainly in the sense it is true. So the word truth should be translated into zhen in Chinese, which has the sense of true but no sense of theory, and it should be recognized furthermore that it is not only a matter of translation, but also one of how to understand Western philosophy.
