兰州市典型街道交通告示语的礼貌策略分析

Analysis of Politeness Strategies in Traffic Public Signs on Typical Streets of Lanzhou City

交通告示语作为一种社会语言,能够体现一个民族的社会文明程度。本研究从批评语用学角度,在面子理论框架下讨论分析兰州市典型街道的交通告示语中礼貌策略的使用情况。研究结果表明,兰州市有近一半交通告示语倾向于使用更加直接或命令式的语言,但大部分尝试使用了更礼貌的表达方式和多种多样的礼貌策略,如使用礼貌词标记语等。反映了兰州市的交通告示语礼貌策略使用状况,并指出社会用语规范化和文明化的方法。

As a type of social language,traffic public sign language mirrors a nation's social civilization degree.Taking traffic public signs on typical streets of Lanzhou as objects,this essay discusses and analyzes the politeness strategies from the perspective of Brown and Levinson's Face-saving Theory.The results of this paper are manifested in two aspects:(1)a majority of traffic signs in Lanzhou utilize politeness strategies,but almost a half of them still use directive and compelling language without any redressive politeness strategies;(2)traffic public signs no longer stick to mandatory or forcible language forms and make use of more polite and acceptable means of expression by using politeness strategies like adding politeness markers,auxiliary reasoning information.The politeness degree of local traffic public signs is inseparably interconnected with the civilization and harmony of local city.This study not only helps to understand the usage of traffic public signs in Lanzhou,but also puts forward some methods which contribute to the normalization and civilization of public language.
