On the Development Phases and Related Features of Jizhou Kiln

吉州窑陶瓷的发展变化,可划分为初创、发展、鼎盛与衰落四期。初创期为晚唐五代,器形简陋,釉色单一,烧制法影响器物美观;发展期为北宋早期至中期,器物品种增多,单色釉瓷为主,纹饰大量出现;鼎盛期为北宋晚期至南宋末,器形应有尽有,釉色丰富多彩,纹饰独具风格;衰落期为元代,器形量减质粗,釉色品种衰减,彩绘纹饰饱满。

The development of Jizhou Kiln may be classified into four periods： beginning, growing, thriving and declining. The beginning period spanned between late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, featured with earth-wares of rough shape and simple glaze color. The growing period occupied early and middle Northern Song Dynasty, when potteries of more types and shapes were made in single-color glaze and decorum. The thriving period stretched from late Northern Dynasty to the end of Southern Dynasty, with products characterized in variety of shapes, rich colors and unique patterns. In Yuan Dynasty, Jizou Kiln experienced a declining period when the products color ornaments.
