An Important Function of Higher Education:Cultivation of Thinking Ability

目前高等教育领域的一大弊端就是只注重知识的传授,而忽视学生的思想力培育。思想力,是理论的力量,是理论对认识世界和改造世界的推动力量。学生拥有了思想力,能够对现实和理论进行深度理解,从而更有效地把握理论和现实;就能够结束盲目学习,变被动为主动,对自己的人生做出科学规划;拥有独立的人格,成为社会生活的独立主体。在现有的教育体制和教育水平的基础上,可以通过压缩课程和学分,给予学生更多的自由思考空间,大力拓展通识教育,对学生进行人文社科经典原著选读教育和训练等方式来对当代大学生进行思想力培育。

At present,one of the drawbacks of higher education field is preferring knowledge than the cultivation of students＇ thinking ability.Thinking ability is the power of theory,and the driving force to know and transform the world.Students who possess thinking ability can have a deep understanding of reality and theory,which is beneficial to end blind learning and make a scientific planning for their own life.Additionally,they can obtain an independent personality and become the independent subject in social life.In the view of the existing educational system and educational level,this paper puts forward the following suggestions to cultivate college students＇ thinking ability：1）reducing the number of courses and credit hours to give students more freedom of thinking;and,2）expanding liberal education and training students from selected humanities and social sciences classics readings.
