Emperor Wen of Chen and the Political Situation in Early Chen Dynasty

陈文帝是陈朝的第二任皇帝,在位期间很有作为。他对内基本消除了陈朝境内的割据势力,加强了中央集权;对外抵御北齐、北周的南侵,维护了国家的独立。同时,政治上加强皇权,整顿吏治,不拘一格选用人才,保持了政局的稳定;经济上重视发展农业生产、大力提倡节俭。这些政策措施,增强了陈朝的国力,使政权初步稳定下来。

Emperor Wen of Chen is the second emperor in Chen Dynasty. He made out- standing achievements in his tenure. He eliminated the separatist forces in the territory and strengthened the centralization of power. He resisted foreign invasion from Northern Qi Dynasty and Northern Zhou Dynasty and protected the national independence. He strengthened the im- perial power, selected and used talents wisely and maintained a stable political situation. He at- tached importance to agriculture and encouraged frugality in economy. These policies and measures promoted the prosperity of the country and made the regime stronger.
