Ni began working on the PwC London-managed, Sino-UK State-owned Enterprise Restructuring and Enterprise Development Programme, funded by the Department forInternational Development of the United Kingdom, in2000. She learned much about the concept of sustainabledevelopment when she was working on the program.At that time, not many people in China paid attention toenvironmental protection. So, she decided to enroll in adevelopment studies program overseas. She accepted theChevening Scholarship of the Government of the UnitedKingdom, and in 2004 she enrolled at Cambridge University.
