中外人文地理学论文写作之差别

THE WRITING DIFFERENCE OF HUMAN GEOGRAPHY PAPERS BETWEEN China's Mainland AND WESTERN EUROPE AND NORTH AMERICA

对人文地理学者而言,论文的写作与发表至关重要。基于新世纪以来的个人学术阅读,认为国内人文地理学论文写作在不断进步,但与欧美人文地理期刊上的论文相比,还存在一些差距。这种差距主要表现在研究思路、理论框架、文献综述、引证、讨论等部分,笔者作了初步的探讨。在学术论文写作中,我们需要基于自己的方法论,认真交待研究问题和研究思路,阐明理论框架,完善文献综述,认真对待引证,并改进讨论部分的写作。

Writing and publishing academic papers are of vital importance to human geographers in the world. Based on the personal academic reading the author believes that the writing of human geography pa- per in China's Mainland has made great progress in the new century, there is some gap when compared with the Anglo-American counterparts. This gap is mainly illustrated on the sections of paper＇s research approach, theoretical background （framework）, literature review, citing and discussion. The author makes a preliminary investigation on the related issues and suggests that we should speak clearly the research question and meth- odology, state the theoretical framework, enrich the literature review, take the citing serious and improve the discussion section. The success of a particular study resides with its ability to contextualize itself in a larger corpus of knowledge, it is vital to include detailed knowledge background at the beginning of a paper. Since main purpose of research is to develop theories and models it is necessary to introduce the approach, method- ology, theoretical framework used in the research. The related statements should be based on the published literature, details and information. Engaged pluralism in human geography can contribute to human geogra- phy. If we use positivism as the working methodology, we should obey the rules of deduction to construct theories. Many so-called Chinse positivist human geographical studies are actually using induction and can- not be classified as positivist research. Another misconception related to positivist research is the wildly use of assumption for hypothesis. What is to be tested in a particular study is the hypothesis, not the assumption. We need to （re-）read the methodological books such as Explanation in Geography, Philosophy and Human Geography, and Approaches to Human Geography.
