基于语料库的周瘦鹃翻译风格研究

A corpus-based study of Zhou Shoujuan's translational style

基于多译本语料库,通过对比周瘦鹃译文与黄建人、张经浩、陶颖等人的现代重译本,探讨周瘦鹃的翻译风格。研究从词汇和句法两个层面出发,同时将1911年前汉语白话原创文学文本作为参照库,找寻原创文本对周瘦鹃翻译语言的影响。研究发现,周译本篇幅比现代重译本短,偏好口语化表达,关注女性人物刻画,多使用传统白话小说词汇,平均句段长也小于后者,长句段使用频率较低,趋近原创汉语的行文方式。研究还尝试从社会文化和译者个人层面解释周瘦鹃翻译风格的成因。

Based on an English-Chinese multi-version corpus containing three of Zhou Shoujuan＇s translations and their retranslated versions,and a comparable corpus of non-translated vernacular Chinese texts before 1911,this paper is to probe into overall length,keywords,sentence segment length（ SSL） and construction＇s load capacity（ CLC） to reveal Zhou＇s translational style in comparison with modern retranslations. Then it goes into the role played by non-translated language in modeling Zhou＇s translation. The study finds out that at the lexical level,Zhou＇s version is shorter than retranslations,abounds with colloquial words and other expressions that are common in traditional vernacular novels,and pays greater attention to female characters; the average SSL is shorter in Zhou＇s translation than in retranslation,and the distribution of sentence segment of various lengths also exhibits significant differences. From the socio-cultural background and the translator＇s individual factors,we propose some plausible explanations for Zhou＇s translational style.
