The Spiritual Value of Golden Mean to Contemporary Chinese

随着社会主义市场经济的飞速发展,源于西方的功利主义价值观越来越深入人心。金钱至上、唯利是图的价值观念正逐渐侵蚀着国人的思想,不少人过度追求物质充裕却无视精神世界的空虚,中国传统的人文道德观念对人们的沐化作用被弱化。而儒家思想中的中庸之道,其丰富的思想内涵、具有普世价值的精神力量,有助于调整人们浮躁功利的心态,弥补功利主义的弊端;中庸思想所体现出的为人处事之法,其对慎独、诚信、过犹不及、素位而行的重要论述,引导人们在多元化的处世观中寻找到正确方向。

With the fast development of socialist market economy,utilitarian values originated in the West is becoming more and more popular.Values of money worship and venality are gradually eroding the people' s minds,and people tend to pursue excessive material abundance and ignore the spiritual barrenness,so the instructive function of the Chinese traditional humanistic and moral concepts is being weakened.Yet,the golden mean of Confucius thought,with its rich connotation and spirit of universal value,will help people to adjust their blundering minds and make up for the defects of utilitarian mentality,and the philosophy of life it reflects and its significant exposition about cautiousness,integrity,too much is as bad as too little and to be an honest person may guide people to find the right direction in the diversified views of communicating.
