法国当代哲学家吉尔·德勒兹与菲利克斯·加塔利从"草"之于中国、"线"之于中国诗书画、"形象"之于中国思想的角度来阐释块茎论、生成论与内在性哲学,呈现了他们经由中国而进入西方哲学的他者视角。与此同时,以法国汉学家弗朗索瓦·朱利安为思想中介,德勒兹与加塔利在内在性的平面上与现代新儒家的内在超越论交汇到一起,展现了中国思想与西方哲学之间的交错运行,呈现了中西相互生发、融会贯通的思想运动。
