Through a talk with Dr.Jinfa Cai,the chief editor of the newly published Compendium for Research in Mathematics Education,the in-depth interview explores the preparation details of the compendium from an insider perspective,including the design of writing philosophy,the criteria for content/theme selection,the formation of the writing team,and the guidelines for the chapter writing,etc.Meanwhile,Dr.Cai synthesized and highlighted the features of the compendium from the chief editor＇s view,including the emphasis on research methods,the introduction of new emerging topics,and the re-examination of traditional topics,so as to offer readers an insightful tool to do an effective reading of the compendium.
