On the Xisima Cemetery of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties at Xingyang

西司马墓地是郑州近来年发现的最为重要的一处商、周墓地,墓地规模大,墓葬排列有序,出土物丰富。通过研究,知其是一处殷人连续使用的墓地,这对郑州地区商、周之际墓葬的研究有重要作用,对殷人如何向周人转变也具重要意义。

The Xisima cemetery, excavated recently, is the most important cemetery of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties in Zhengzhou. It is of a large scale and a highly organized plan, from which abundant accompanying goods were unearthed. It was used continuously by the Shang people. This cemetery contributes greatly to the research of burials during that period, which also sheds light on the identity transformation of the Shang people.
