儒者与众人的异同:以同而异——从《礼记·儒行》“其服也乡”谈起

The Similarities and Differences Between Confucians and Common People:Harmony but not the Sameness——Starting from “Wearing the Clothes by Observing the Customs of the Place” in Confucian Practice of The Book of Rites

文章从何为儒服的问题入手,叙述深衣之制与深衣之义,首先指出儒者与众人之异不在于服,继而通过阐述"君子以同而异"的内涵,试图揭示儒者与众人之表征上的异同背后的根据和原则。最后得出儒者立足于其与众人之性同,故于众人既有饱含善意、体谅的"小合",亦"和而不流"。意在化解儒家经典文本对儒者(君子)行状的描摹,既有"入乡随俗",又有"特立独行",这个乍看之下的矛盾。

The paper starts with what is Confucian clothing,then discusses the norms and connotations of Shen Yi(a kind of ancient Chinese dress).Firstly,it points out that differences between Confucians and the common people does not lie in the clothing; then,it explains the connotations of" harmony but not the sameness "in order to reveal reasons and principles behind these similarities and differences.Finally,it reaches the conclusion that because Confucians have the same characters,their kindness and sympathy are in harmony,that is" harmony but not the sameness ".This paper aims to resolve the contradictions about Confucian practice from Confucian classic works,that is,they always observe the customs of the place and live in harmony with the common people while they also keep their uniqueness and never be the same with the bad ones.
