MXenes is a two-dimensional transition metal carbide or carbonitride having a graphene-like structure.A new MXenes 2 D material was obtained by chemical etching of transition metal elements in hydrofluoric acid or mixed solution of fluoride salt and hydrochloric acid. The chemical formula is Mn+1XnTX(n = 1, 2, 3...), where M represents a transition metal element, X represents carbon or carbon and nitrogen, and TX represents a terminating group on the surface of the MXenes sheet, including-H,-F,-OH. Through the modification of the surface of MXenes, the treatment of interlayer distance and the improvement of proton transfer efficiency, it is in favor of the electrochemical application of MXenes. This review summarizes the progress in the application of MXenes in the fields of electrochemical sensing, batteries, supercapacitors and so on. The prospects for the application of MXenes in the electrochemical field are also reviewed.
