詹锳先生非常重视桐城派古文家对《文心雕龙》的阐释与引用,认为桐城派古文家的文体论、范畴论都受到《文心雕龙》影响,在《文心雕龙义证》中征引姚鼐《古文辞类纂序目》、林纾《春觉斋论文》、姚永朴《文学研究法》等书中大量条目,拓展了《文心雕龙》校注素材,架起了龙学与桐城派研究之间的桥梁。

Zhan Ying attached importance that Tongcheng school writers interpreted and quoted Wen Xin Diao Long. The style theory and category theory of Tongcheng school were influence of Wen Xin Diao Long.The Textual Research of Wen Xin Diao Long cited the clauses from the monograph written by Yao Nai,Lin Shu and Yao Yong-pu. This extends the notes material. Mr. Zhan set up a bridge between Wen Xin Diao Long and Tongcheng school.
