A'blank ' disc must provide a lot of information to the recorder during the recording process.It' s a very interesting topic on how to load these kinds of information on such a disc. An overview on the current DVD pregroove formats is provided in this paper. With a good understanding of these pregroove formats, we can greatly improve our competence in the pregroove design and the disc standardization. The pregroove design for Blu-ray Disc is given as a good example.
