Application of adaptive equalization for magnetic recording channels

一、引言信息时代的到来意味着数字信息量的不断增长。1998年图灵奖获得者Jim Gray曾说过:“从现在起,每18个月新增存储量等于有史以来存储量之和”。

In magnetic storage system, adaptive equalization plays an important role in reducing inter-symbol interference (ISI) and improving signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). At first, this paper introduced a mathematical model of adaptive equalizer in the magnetic read channel. Then we described a least-mean-square (LMS) based 10-tap adaptive equalizer used in gs-magic Micro-disk. The structure and coefficients update algorithm of this adaptive equalizer are introduced in detail.
