For the past few years, the rapid advancement of the technologies concerning anti-ship missiles has led to a major improvement of the attack speed, invisibility and capabilities of avoidance and anti-jamming of those missiles. Therefore, the potential threat posed by all kinds of anti-ship missiles will increase signifi- cantly in the future warfare. Under such circumstances, various sea powers have spared no effort to develop their own ship-borne soft-killing weapon systems and are carrying out a lot of new R^D projects consistently. The developmental background and the composition of several typical ship-borne soft-killing weapon systems of foreign militaries are expounded, their current situation and summarizes their characteristics are analyzed.
