为了让国内外各界人士了解攀西地区的情况,四川省于今年二、三月间联合组织了28家中央在川新闻单位和省级新闻单位记者组成的“95攀西行”大型新闻采访活动.本刊将陆续发表这次攀西采访的纪行报道.下面登载的《矗立在攀西的现代化钢城》、《走马攀西话凉山》两篇文章,便是献给读者的首批报道,希望有助于大家对攀西地区开发建设情况的了解.
Panzhihua is the largest iron & steel base in southwest China. It is located along the Panxi great rift valley and is well-known for its various minerals. Panzhihua district holds 27 percent of iron, 87 per cent of vanadium, 93 per cent of titanium and 60 per cent of cobalt of the country’s total, and acclaims the possession of 18 per cent of hydropower reserves of China.General secretary Jiang Zemin extolled Panzhihua "graceful and grand" in April 1991 while visiting. He urged "to build Panzhihua into a modern base of iron and steel, vanadium and titanium.
